We are pleased to welcome you and your furry friend to
our pet friendly hotel, Carmel River Inn. All of our cottages are
pet friendly. We charge a nightly fee of $15 per pet, per night for up to two
well-behaved pets per cottage.
 Not
only are we a pet friendly hotel, but we are also pleased to recommend
some fun activities for a pet friendly vacation. Pets feel more welcome
in the
picturesque village of Carmel than almost anywhere else in the
world.
Carmel's pet friendly main street, Ocean Avenue, is a marvelous place
for browsing upscale shops, boutiques, and
art galleries. Don't worry
about your dog; this village is so pet friendly that there are "doggy
hitching posts," hook-and-snap devices attached to shops in the area.
So while you are shopping, your dog relaxes outside in the shade.
Carmel City Beach
is one of the only pet friendly beaches on California's Central Coast
where your dog can run off-leash. This pristine, white-sand beach,
bordered by cypress trees and a walking trail, is a superb pet friendly
spot to include in your California vacation. From Highway One take the
Ocean Avenue exit all the way to the end. 831-624-3543 
Carmel River State
Beach is a large stretch of beach, just a short stroll from Carmel River
Inn. Although pet friendly, dogs are required to be on a leash at all
times. 831-624-4909
Across the street
from the historic Carmel Mission, on Rio Road, is the very pet friendly
Mission Trail Park. This lush 37-acre park is abundant with Carmel's
native flora (beware of one of these natives, poison oak-- it's
everywhere, so stay on the trails). Dogs under voice control can be off
leash. Take your camera; there are many excellent photo opportunities,
including the wooden footbridge. 831-624-3543
Take your dog on a
two-hour leisurely walk through Carmel and learn all about its history,
art, and even its dogs. Pet friendly Carmel Walks offers these
entertaining strolls through the well-known and not-so-well-known haunts
of Carmel. Whether this is your first visit to Carmel or you are a
seasoned veteran, you are sure to learn something new. Tours are $20
per person, and your leashed, well-behaved dog is free. Reservations are
